Bridge Detailing & Structural Concepts, LLC (BDSC) was born after more than 8 years of experience working in the steel bridge industry.

I started this journey far from home at 19, working in a fabrication shop making small handrail, stair, and column drawings. At 20, the company shifted into the bridge industry—and so did I. With no formal training in bridges, I had two options: stay in building detailing or learn everything I could about bridge codes and structures.

Starting as a shop helper, then plasma operator, and eventually becoming the right hand of the plant manager, I learned through hands-on experience, late nights, and guidance from veteran welders, QC managers, and field experts. Their knowledge became my classroom—and bridge detailing, my calling.

Without formal schooling in bridge detailing, I taught myself by reverse-engineering completed projects. I studied AASHTO, AWS D1.5, and AISC standards late at night, learned to model steel geometry based on real fabrication behavior, and began developing plans that not only met code—but made sense in the shop and on the field.

From my first single-span W-beam bridge at 45 ft, I’ve detailed complex steel structures with sweep, camber, and line assemblies, including girders over 165 ft long, 9 ft tall, and weighing over 100,000 lbs. I’ve also had the privilege of training new drafters and mentoring detailers, not just with software—but with real-world logic.

Beyond detailing, I’ve worked as Purchasing Manager, ordering domestic material, calculating accurate takeoffs, and writing custom scripts to minimize waste and ensure compliance with Buy America standards.To me, detailing isn’t just drawing lines—it’s understanding how each bridge behaves under load, span, and field condition.

We’ve completed projects across multiple states, including collaborations with: ODOT, TXDOT, MDOT, KDOT, ADOT, and ARDOT.

From project documentation to data packages with full MTR traceability, I’ve been involved in every stage.
